Hunter's Point Featured in the New York Times!

An Excerpt from the article, "Homelessness Live on a Tenderloin Stage" :

The first sign that "Hunter’s Point," a new play by Elizabeth Gjelten of San Francisco, is not a typical theatergoing experience is at the door.

To enter St. Boniface Church, whose basement contains the 200-seat auditorium where the play is being performed, one must go through a metal slotted gate, locked at night — even during performances, with a security guard posted to open and close it. It is one of four imposing gated entrances bordered by high fences that combine to form a fortresslike exterior.

In Elizabeth Gjelten's play, Eva is homeless on the streets of San Francisco, hiding out from psych wards, social workers and her interfering sister, Ruthie - who hired a street musician/bike thief named Hunter to track her down. Not that sister Ruthie really wants the responsibility, but someone is setting homeless people on fire.
